YOUNG rugby stars put their talents to the test at Morpeth today.
The Morpeth and Ponteland School Sports Partnership, with support from Northumberland RFU and Morpeth Rugby Club, hosted the Morpeth First Schools' tag rugby festival.

More than 270 Year Three and Four pupils from Stobhillgate, Longhorsley, Tritlington, Abbeyfields, Goosehill, All Saints, Cambo and Stannington engaged in a series of games at Morpeth Rugby Club.

The pool group winners were: Pool 1: Cambo; Pool 2: Abbeyfields 5; Pool 3: Stobhillgate 1; Pool 4: Longhorsley 3; Most Improved team: Goosehill 5.

Andy Blight, School Sport Co-ordinator, said he hoped many of the pupils would make the transition to club rugby at Morpeth. "It was an excellent day, with all pupils displaying great endeavour and competitive spirit," he added.

Boys and girls can further their involvement at Morpeth Rugby Club on Thursday June 5: Year Four at 5pm and Year Three, 6.30pm. Training and games re-commence soon on Sunday mornings.

Photographer Keith Robertson was on hand to capture the action.
