Catching up with the Guild news
THIS is the first report of our meetings since November.
A brief resume of December activities includes a national carol service in Durham Cathedral. It was a magnificent setting and a full congregation of townswomen thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.
Another carol service attended by members of East Northumberland Federation was a more intimate affair in Cramlington at the Welcome Methodist Chapel, which was a lovely service.
Finally, our thanks go to the staff at Riverside Lodge Morpeth for a very tasty Christmas lunch meeting.
As our February meeting is mainly concerned with business and the collection from members of our annual subscription — not popular, but necessary — no speaker had been engaged.
We did have, however, a 90th birthday tea for our member Dorothy Nixon. Tea, sandwiches, biscuits, plus a lovely cake, made by our Treasurer Mrs Pat Lumley, were appreciated by all.
Raffle prize winners included Pat Duffy, our birthday girl Dorothy Nixon and Lee Chirnside.
The next meeting is on March 14, at 2pm, in St Robert’s Church Hall. Visitors very welcome.
