Centre toilets could soon be feeling flush

TOWN councillors could be spending a penny or two on sprucing up community centre toilets.

Builders’ quotes are being sought by Morpeth Town Council to improve the facilities at St James’s Community Centre in Wellway.

Members of the Property and Asset Management Committee heard that users had requested the work as the existing toilets are looking shabby, and that with elderly groups meeting in the building three times a week, better disabled facilities should be considered.

Committee Chairman Andrew Tebbutt said: “This is one of the things that was identified when we had the users’ meeting and we agreed to look at it.

“The toilets are workable, but they are tired and we do have an appropriate fund built up to be able to do things like this.”

The committee agreed to seek three quotes for the cost of improvements.
