Charity seeks youthful help

A COUNTY charity is seeking the help of young people for its new digital project.

Carers Northumberland is designing a website for young carers and staff are looking for ideas from those under 18 about what makes a good website and what they need and want from such a facility.

Information Officer Anne-Marie Johnstone said: “We’re very excited by this project. We want the website to appeal to young people and give them somewhere that belongs to them, as well as offer them a range of information to help them in their daily lives.

“We want to include photos, videos, music, art and poetry, all from young carers in the county and for them to be able to contribute to the website regularly.”

These youngsters can also benefit from the charity’s Young Carers Support Fund, which enables them to take a break from their caring responsibilities by offering small grants to help meet transport costs, membership fees, pay for equipment or meet other costs associated with an activity away from caring.

Those who would like to send in ideas for or get involved with the website, or find out more information about the fund, can do so by calling 01670 518204 or emailing annemariejohnstone@carersnorthumberland.org.uk
