Council marks its priorities

TRAFFIC, footpath access and lighting have been identified as priority transport issues by Ponteland Town Council.

Members agreed a recommendation from the planning committee to ask Northumberland County Council for a traffic survey to help make the case for a Ponteland Bypass as its top request for 2013/14.

Second is a call for 27 dropped kerbs from the Diamond Inn to the roundabout by Dobbies Garden World and third is an appeal for 37 street lights in seven Darras Hall areas – Greenacres, Hill Park, Hillside, Lynwood Close, Marian Way, Pinegarth and Woodend.

Reserve items were also read out at the meeting. These are a new footpath from the Berwick Hill hamlet to its nearest post box (approximately 60m), dropped kerbs on West Road between Beeches and Darras Road, and an HGV survey to record their use of Callerton Lane, North Road and Berwick Hill Road as a through route from the A69 to A1 road at Blagdon.
