RESIDENTS at a Morpeth retirement property recollected what life was like in winters past to local schoolchildren.

A reminiscence afternoon took place at St Christopher’s House in Abbey Meadows and pupils from Abbeyfields First School joined in the fun by singing some seasonal songs.

House Manager Eileen Wilson said: “The tenants really enjoy the reminiscence events, especially when the schoolchildren come along and join us.

“One of our tenants, Bob Ogle, sang an old Northumberland song and I am sure everyone joined in when the children sang their songs for us.”

As well as sharing some refreshments, the residents told pupils about how they celebrated the festive period in their younger days.

St Christopher’s House tenant Rob Wilson said: “I like reminiscence events as we have a different theme each month and we have great fun getting together and sharing our memories.

“Having the children here has been really special. It was lovely to see them all again and I hope they enjoyed the afternoon as much as I did.”
