Garden is topic of talk

A FAMOUS garden is the subject of the next North East of England Group of the Alpine Garden Society meeting in Ponteland.

John Richards, Emeritus Professor of Botany at Newcastle University, is going to talk about Kilbryde in Corbridge. It was owned and looked after by Randle Cooke for many years. When he died in 1973, he left the garden, well-known for its collection of trees and shrubs, to the university.

The event will be held on Monday from 7.30pm in St Mary’s Church Hall, Thornhill Road. There is no charge for visitors.
