Keep it clear, drivers urged

MOTORISTS have been urged not to clog up a busy Ponteland road if they are unable to find a space in its leisure centre car park.

The town council is appealing to drivers to use the car park next to Ponteland High and Middle Schools as an alternative at weekends.

At a recent meeting, Coun Carl Rawlings said that at the moment a number of people are parking in Callerton Lane when the leisure centre facility is full and adding to congestion problems.

This happens when two or three things are happening at the same time, such as a sporting fixture, church service, special events and groups which meet outside the building, such as a cycling club.
