New captain at the helm

THE 1st Morpeth Boys’ Brigade Company group has a new man at the helm.

Simon White, the Newcastle Diocesan youth officer, has been appointed Captain of the 11 to 18-year-olds section.

He has been involved in scouting for 15 years as Scout Leader and Group Scout Leader and is excited about being able to help lead one of the biggest Boys’ Brigade companies in the region.

Mr White has a real passion for seeing young people being valued and encouraged to grow in the Christian faith and helping them on their journeys of life. He also leads an annual diocesan youth camp for 100 young people in Northumberland.

His predecessor, Kevin Purdy, has been thanked by the group for his contribution over many years. Clive Kemp continues to lead the Junior (aged eight to 11) and Anchor (aged five to eight) sections.
