HERALD readers may recognise some familiar faces in this photograph.

The picture was previously published in the Morpeth Herald after the 1963 flood as the clean-up operation got under way.

The photograph has kindly been provided by Margaret Mackay, whose family used to own the newspaper.

It was taken at the Drill Hall in Copper Chare specifically for the paper.

While Mrs Mackay does not recognise all of the people in the picture, she can pick out John Shepherd in the centre.
