Post office move backed

PONTELAND councillors have welcomed a proposed change of premises for a post office.

If the plans go ahead, the branch at 30 Merton Way would move 14metres from its present base into another building along the street at number 36.

The move would result in longer opening hours, together with the introduction of a travel agency service.

Customers have been assured that the same range of products and services available at the present outlet will continue to be provided from the new base.

Ponteland Town Council has agreed to send a letter of support for the proposal to the Post Office.

Consultation on the plans ends tomorrow.
