Volunteers tell of their work

MRS Jackie Ryalls spoke to the February meeting of Kirkley WI about her work in Bosnia.

The work began about 30 years ago when she and her husband felt called to go to the war zone and help citizens in distress. This work continues with voluntary donations in the form of food and medical supplies.

The vote of thanks was given by Rosie Creighton.

In the business meeting members voted to begin the Institute’s 50th birthday celebrations with a 1960s lunch at Kirkley Hall.

Two teams had entered for the county quiz and one entry was made for the car treasure hunt.

A number of members had knitted vests for ‘Fish and Chip’ babies in Africa. Members were asked to bring their vests to the March meeting.
