Viking artwork by Northumberland pupils goes online at Bailiffgate exhibition
and live on Freeview channel 276
If this had been a normal year, the paintings and drawings of the 10 winners would have been framed and hung in the Alnwick museum and every entrant’s illustration projected on the big screen throughout the summer Vikings exhibition.
Although Covid-19 has meant the myth-busting Vikings exhibition, in collaboration with Jorvik, has been postponed until 2021, every pupil from the nine schools that took part can see their images in the films uploaded to Bailiffgate’s YouTube Channel.

“Bailiffgate has a vast online collection of films, photos, posters, documents and oral histories on our websites and I’m delighted that although we are closed, our collections are available to our local, national and international virtual communities.”
Pupils were asked to draw or paint a Viking warrior or a Viking Longship.
The schools which took part were: The Duchess's Community High School, Swansfield Park Primary School, Hipsburn Primary School, Felton C of E Primary School, Shilbottle Primary School, Whittingham C of E Primary School, Seahouses Primary School, Harbottle C of E First School and St Paul's RC VA Primary School.
