A game bridging all levels

LOCAL bridge teachers held their annual wine and cheese party, including a competition, for students past and present at the Storey Park Community Centre in Morpeth.

There were 66 students this year, with more people attending each year as newcomers continue to take up the game.

Eight brave students had only been learning for a short time and played in a separate ‘gentle’ section alongside the more experienced players.

The winners of the main group were Moyra and Cyril Meehan, playing north/south, and Susan Turner and Ken Wharrier, playing east/west. The beginners’ group winners were Christine Hayward and Susan Horton.

The competition was directed by Norman Gray, who created a relaxed atmosphere throughout the event.
