A MORPETH schoolgirl could be heading for the catwalk after being spotted by modelling talent scouts.

Fifteen-year-old Abbie Smith, of Newgate Street, has made it through to the public vote of the Teen Queen UK competition.

The teenager was picked out to apply for the contest when she attended the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham with classmates from her textiles course at King Edward VI School.

Thousands of hopefuls entered the competition and Abbie was selected to go forward for a photo shoot and the public vote.

She is listed in the Teen Princess section, for girls aged 13 to 15, and the two in her heat with the most votes will go through to the finals to compete for the chance to become the face of fashion and beauty brands Fake Bake, PromPerfect Gowns and Additional Lengths Hair.

The winner will also be introduced to a top modelling agency.

Abbie said: “I have never done anything like this before.

“I was at the Clothes Show and was picked out. They took my details and sent me a letter asking me to go to London for a casting, then when I came back I found out I had made it through to the website. Now I just need as many votes as possible.”

Proud mum Julie said: “I knew that they do this sort of thing at the Clothes Show and I had said to my mam that Abbie might get spotted, but I didn’t really expect her to come back and say that she had been.”

Voting for the competition closes at 11.30pm on Friday, February 15.

Abbie is in Heat One. For voting details visit www.teenqueenuk.com
