MORPETH Soroptimists has given the local branch of a charity a funding boost.

Following a very successful fund-raising art exhibition at Hepscott Village Hall, the organisation’s President, Trish Walker, presented a cheque for £400 to Amy Syron-Mallenby, Information Worker for the Alzheimer’s Society in Northumberland.

Mrs Walker said: “Alzheimer’s has touched my own family and I understand the devastating and often dramatic effect that this often forgotten illness has upon a family.

“It is vitally important that the Alzheimer’s Society in Northumberland receives support to enable them to continue to provide local services, information and advice to help make the lives of individuals, carers and families who are living and coping with dementia a little easier.

“Morpeth Soroptimists are always keen to be involved in local community projects and I was very pleased to be able to give Amy a cheque for £400, which I hope in some small way will help.”
