MOVES are under way to try to bring some cafe culture to Ponteland Leisure Centre.
A new facility is being looked at as a way of encouraging more people to the complex.
Meanwhile, a meeting has taken place to see what improvements can be made to the pool.
Swimmers and those running groups such as Aquafit discussed a range of issues with Ponteland North county councillor Richard Dodd and the centre’s Business Manager Adam Roberts.
Coun Dodd said: “At the meeting we talked about what can be done to improve the pool, particularly the long-running problem of the water temperature being too cold.
“The centre is working hard to bring in new boilers as half of them don’t work and one of the ideas to bring in extra income is to have a cafe area.”
