A RANGE of organisations have received a funding boost through money collected by a Morpeth community group.

As Chris Offord’s year as President of Morpeth Lions Club comes to a close, he and fellow members have organised a distribution of much of its funds.

A total of £2,500 has been given to The Bubble Foundation, Music and the Deaf, Northumberland Hospital Radio, Escape Family Support, 4th Morpeth Scouts, KEVI Community Jazz Band, Morpeth Area Partially Sighted Group, Contact (Morpeth Mental Health Group) and the Great North Air Ambulance Service as well as other local individuals’ requests.

Mr Offord said: “We in Morpeth Lions Club are extremely grateful to everyone in the area who gave their money at Lions fund-raising events.

“Hopefully the public knows that we will concentrate on meeting local needs whenever funds permit.

“We are already planning for our next year of service and hope that the public’s support of our organisation will continue.”
