County’s own festival returns

MANY of the county’s top beauty spots and buildings will be providing free or discounted entry for a weekend next month as a popular event returns.

The fourth annual Northumberland Residents Festival, which coincides with English Tourism Week, encourages local people to experience the high quality attractions that the area has to offer.

Thousands of people took advantage last year to visit places such as castles, gardens and museums.

Nigel Walsh, design and cultural services manager at Northumberland County Council, said: “It is very encouraging to see the festival grow year-on-year with more venues eager to get involved. The weekend has become really special for local people.”

The event will take place on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17. For more information, visit http://residentsfestival.northumberland.gov.uk
