MEMBERS of Morpeth Stobhillgate Townswomen’s Guild celebrated our 60th birthday on Thursday, June 9, with a buffet lunch at the Riverside Lodge.

Mrs Irving Rutherford welcomed everyone, especially our guests Mrs Anne Wilson and Mrs Leah Dixon, committee members of the East Northumberland Federation, Mrs Wilson being a former Chairman.

After lunch, we were entertained royally by The Melody Makers with songs from yesteryear.

After cutting the cake supplied by Glentons and toasting our future, Mrs Rutherford presented bouquets to Mrs Pat Lumley, our longest serving member and Treasurer, and Mrs Lily Wilson, who has been our hard-working Secretary for the past 27 years.

It was a very enjoyable day reminiscing with past and present members.

Our thanks go to the staff at the Riverside.

Our next meeting is on Thursday, July 14, in St Robert’s Church Hall, Oldgate, at 2pm. All welcome.
