Focus on photos all over the world
THE first Morpeth Camera Club meeting of 2013 took place on Tuesday, January 8.
A full house welcomed Vince Rooker, who presented the results of the Digital Image Section of the 33rd Northern Counties Photographic Federation International Digital Salon.
This is an international competition for which the federation invites photographers from all over the world to enter their pictures. The statistics for this year revealed that 947 authors from 65 countries entered 7,624 images, of which 1,878 gained acceptances and awards.
Three categories – General, Travel and Nature – were included and there were submissions from all over Europe, South America, Australia, The Middle and Far East, Russia, South Africa, India, the United Kingdom and the USA.
An amazing variety of photographs were given awards, such as portraits, landscapes and still life, which highlighted the extremely high standard of work that is being produced throughout the world.
The club meets every Tuesday at 7.30pm at Morpeth Methodist Church.
The programme includes various speakers, inter-club and internal competitions involving prints, digital images, and audio-visual presentations, teaching sessions on digital techniques, practical nights and social evenings.
