Focus on villagers’ experiences of life as locals
IT’S lights, camera and action at Stobhill as a new community project is launched.
The Voices initiative aims to give an insight into the area and its people through the production of a DVD.
The venture is being led by the Stobhill Community Forum and Isos Housing in partnership with Collingwood School and Media Arts College, which will provide the technical skills needed for the production.
Funding has been secured from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust to press ahead with the project.
The idea behind the scheme is to capture Stobhill’s past and present to help future planning.
Town and county councillor for the area Ian Lindley said: “This is a great project involving our own residents’ association, Stobhill Community Forum (SCF) in partnership with Isos.
“I know SCF is very enthusiastic about the potential of Stobhill Voices and is keen to attract as many people as possible to get involved.
“This will be a great way of bringing the community together and will reinforce the community spirit which makes Stobhill such a great place to live.
“Voices is a small part of the Regeneration Plan, which Isos and I have developed for Stobhill over the last four years and is now starting to bear fruit as new investment comes into the area.
“I was very pleased to secure funding for Voices of Stobhill. The project will capture the insight and experience of local residents as an entertaining, professional-standard DVD is produced with the technical guidance of experts at Collingwood School, led by our own Nicky Wall, herself a Stobhillian.”
A meeting will be held at Collingwood School on Wednesday, from 5pm to 7pm, for residents to learn more about the project and find out how to get involved.
Isos Community Officer Angeline Rochford said: “Why not come along, relax, have a coffee, a chat with friends and neighbours, and learn about the project?”
