GARDENING goodies worth a total of £6,000 are up for grabs in a charity draw at a Morpeth nursery.
Heighley Gate Nursery and Garden Centre is selling tickets for the Get Gardening Raffle in aid of its Charity of the Year Greenfingers.
The draw is taking place nationally across 119 stores in The Garden Centre Group, with customers having the chance to win a host of goodies and vouchers.
The main winner will receive £3,000 in prizes, including vouchers from Scotts Miracle Gro, the Horticultural Trades Association and The Garden Centre Group, Bosch garden tools, a Honda Izy mower, David Austin Roses and a Beefeater barbecue.
Prizes amounting to £2,000 will be awarded for second place and the third placed ticket will win £1,000 of items.
All proceeds from the raffle will go to Greenfingers, which creates magical gardens at children’s hopsices across the UK.
Already five gardens are on the charity’s waiting list and more are in the pipeline.
Chairman Richard Jackson said: “We’re thrilled Heighley Gate Nursery and Garden Centre is supporting Greenfingers again this year and that staff are selling tickets for our raffle, which is exclusively for visitors to The Garden Centre Group.
“The prizes have been kindly donated by a number of businesses in the horticultural industry. I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved.”
He added: “Children together with their families appreciate Greenfingers’ gardens because they make a difference to the quality of their lives.
“The gardens let them spend more time together with their family, at play or in calm privacy, surrounded by nature and above all, away from the bedside.”
Heighley Gate General Manager Roger Wale said: “Greenfingers is the garden centre’s national Charity of the Year and we’re delighted to be supporting it by selling raffle tickets to help raise valuable funds.”
Raffle tickets cost £1 each and are on sale at the outlet, until Monday, July 4. The draw will take place on Tuesday, July 26.
