Hannah joins the professionals

A TALENTED teenager from Ponteland will perform alongside professional dance artists at a big regional production later this month.

Newcastle-based dance theatre company balletLORENT is mixing expert dancers with bright and upcoming young dance students, including Hannah Rutherford, for a new version of the classic fairytale Rapunzel.

It will premiere on October 18 at Durham Gala Theatre in association with the Durham Book Festival.

The Year 10 student at Ponteland High School said: “I’m really excited to be taking part in the production. It’s made all my efforts really feel worth it.”

Hannah will also be involved when the show comes to Northern Stage, located in the Haymarket area of Newcastle, in February 2013.

Ponteland High School Principal Teacher for Expressive Arts Aly Burridge said: “Hannah is an extremely talented dancer and an outstanding role model for our school. We know that she will gain a lot of experience from this unique opportunity.”
