It’s cold comfort for the groom

THOSE looking to boldly go where no stag has gone before can take their party to a winter wonderland thanks to a Morpeth company.

An weekend expedition to the North Pole has been launched by Last Night of Freedom.

The special stag do, thought to be a world first, includes flights from Longyearbyen on The Svalbard Islands – located halfway between Norway and the North Pole – to a base camp, getting dropped 5km from the pole by a chopper and cross-country skiing to the most northern point in the world.

The group will camp there overnight and celebrate with caviar and Champagne and they will be picked up by helicopter the next morning and returned to Longyearbyen.

Stags will be kitted up and guided by the Polar expedition expert Eric Philips, who has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for achievements in Polar exploration.

Managing Director of Last Night of Freedom Matt Mavir, said: “We have a reputation for organising the biggest and the best weekends and we are outdoing ourselves this time with this extreme stag do for guys who want to make history. There is nothing else like this on the market for stag groups.”

The trip costs £14,999 per person, including internal flights and helicopter rides, accommodation, food and specialist thermal gear to handle the -35°C temperatures.
