Once again, members of Morpeth Lions Club were the mainstays of the annual Daffodil Appeal street collection in aid of Marie Curie.

On a cool, but dry day a total of almost £790 was raised.

The Lions’ member responsible for organising the collection was Ken Brown.

He said: “Morpeth Lions Club is well aware of the great work undertaken by the Marie Curie organisation.

“In fact, throughout the country Lions members will be collecting.

“Our national headquarters has entered into a formal arrangement with Marie Curie to help with its street collections, which was recently renewed for a further three years.”

He added: “As ever, we are grateful to the people in Morpeth for their generous contributions to the valuable work of Marie Curie.”

The Marie Curie charity works throughout the country to provide expert care, guidance and support to help people living with terminal illness and their families.
