MORPETH Lions Club has welcomed the new year with two new members.

Former town Mayor Ken Brown and David Armstrong both expressed an interest in being of further service to the community and the local organisation is looking forward to putting their talents to good use.

Club President Dave Wheeler said: “It gives me great pleasure to welcome David and Ken to Morpeth Lions Club.

“Our community activities often need many ‘hands on deck’ and already our new members have volunteered to get involved. Hopefully, this may lead to the club being able to address further local commitments.”

In wishing the new members well, Mr Wheeler was joined by visiting Canadian Lions Maureen and Rick Pockett.

This emphasised the fact that Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest voluntary service organisation, with 1.3 million members belonging to clubs in many countries throughout the world.
