ROYAL street parties are old hat for Morpeth man Malcolm Davison, as this picture shows.
The photograph was taken at a street party in Stobhill in 1953 to celebrate the Queen’s Coronation.
The event was organised by residents in Second Avenue and Fifth Avenue.
Mr Davison, who was 12 at the time and is seen in the centre of the picture in front of the decorated lamppost, said: “When my mother passed away I found this picture when I was clearing her house, she had kept it all these years.
“It was a street party for children to celebrate the Queen’s Coronation.
“I can’t remember much about it, but I remember the tables being set out in front of the houses and all the bunting that was up. I think there were other street parties all around the town.
“There are still quite a few of the people in the picture still living in Morpeth.”
Mr Davison, who now lives in Postern Crescent, also has a book all about Northumberland that was presented to children by the local education authority to commemorate the Coronation.
