A NIGHT of local history, The Story of Bessie Surtees, was the topic introduced to our September meeting
Bill Saunders gave the talk and some beautiful pictures were shown.
It was a really interesting tale about this lady, her life, loves and family, and also the house she lived in on the Quayside that is still there today in Newcastle.
Quite a bit of humour made this story very interesting. Everyone agreed it was a good evening.
Mary Henderson thanked Mr Saunders.
President Nancy Fowlie then continued with the business of the day. Mainly County Day was discussed, also a trip to the Dutch bulb fields next year.
The competition for a fridge magnet was won by Helen Rochester, who also won the raffle.
