MORPETH thespians pictured in this Image of Yesteryear are still going strong as active members of the group.

Nancy Smith and Pamela Cassells, shown at a St George’s Community Players rehearsal in 1987, have become stalwarts of the players.

And they have contacted the Herald to identify the people pictured.

The back row, pictured from left to right, shows Keith Swailes, Richard Jordan and Ralph Maughan.

The front row pictures Pamela Cassells, Arthur Harrison and Nancy Smith. Sitting to Mr Harrison’s right is a mystery actress, perhaps Amanda Thompson.

Nancy and Pamela have appeared together in many other players’ productions, including Close the Coalhouse Door, which is now being revived in Newcastle.

The cast for the St George’s production included John Armstrong, Jane Shaw, George Elliot, Pip Appleby, Norman Elliot and Frank Jenkinson. Jared Johnson, who is now the group’s Chairman, took his first part for St George’s in this musical play.

He can now be seen taking the part of Joe Helliwell in the latest production of Priestley’s comedy, When we are Married, produced by Roy Boulton.

It is taking place in St George’s Church Hall from today until Saturday.
