A COMMUNITY radio station has tuned in to police support to pick up extra kit.

Koast Radio, which is based at Longhirst Hall, has received a donation from the Northumbria Police Charities Fund to buy headphones, a portable recorder and pop-up banners.

Manager Vicky Oakley said: “We are delighted that Northumbria Police Charities Fund has supported us. This new equipment is invaluable in assisting us in helping other charitable and not-for-profit organisations throughout Northumberland.”

Charities Fund Trustee Sarah Dodds said: “The Northumbria Police Charities Fund is happy to help out this online community radio station, which broadcasts regular news and information to local people.”

As previously reported in the Herald, the station has recently recruited the Three Legends for a football phone-in show, and now it has a new daytime line-up of Simon Robertson and Hayden Parker.
