AT the 52nd Annual General Meeting of BPW Morpeth, Hilarie Tucknott was again elected President for the coming year.
She welcomed everyone to the meeting and gave a resume of the club’s activities during the past 12 months, paying particular attention to the highlights of the year, including the recent public speaking competition and the visit to Holy Island in July.
The National President Sue Ashmore, who is also a member of the Morpeth club, gave details of her own annual President’s letter, which is sent to all clubs in the organisation to be read out at each annual general meeting.
Reports were also received from Morpeth members in their capacity as members of various local committees and activities.
BPW will meet again today at St James’s Centre, starting at 7.30pm, when a member of Northumbria Police will talk on sex trafficking in the North East. This is a subject very dear to the National President’s heart as she and other BPW members have been lobbying Parliament to do more to stop this revolting practice and the associated problems the 2012 Olympics will bring in its wake.
Any working woman interested in BPW and its activities can phone 01670 514579 for details.
