As the Queen celebrated her 90th birthday, Hepscott WI marked its 9th.

Red, white and blue was the theme as members made flower arrangements to decorate the tables and form the competition. Carolyn Reid even produced a birthday cupcake tower in the colours.

Lots of delicious titbits were proffered for the pooled supper.

As it was the AGM, secretary Carol Reed gave a presentation to remind everyone of the highlights of the year, which included the centenary of the WI. Resolutions to be voted on at the national AGM were discussed. Our delegate will be Dorothy Cowans. The committee was approved and Lynda Wadge was re-elected President. WI Adviser Brenda Houlison presided.

After much thought she awarded Elaine Walker the prize for the winning flower display.

There was then a chance to chat over a glass of prosecco, and a plate of tasty nibbles concluded a happy evening.

The next meeting will be held at Cresswell House on May 17, at the earlier time of 7pm, when Gabby Sutton will guide us through 100 years of fashion.
