Yuletide flavour to town market

MORPETH traders are rolling out the tinsel for a special Christmas market.

The event has been organised by the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade for businesses already trading within the area.

It gives shops an opportunity to increase sales in the build-up to Christmas, make themselves known to customers and direct people to their premises for continued shopping throughout the year.

The initiative was first organised last year when nine traders took part and it was so successful that Chamber members were eager to try it again.

This year, at least 18 town businesses will be participating, with the remaining spaces filled with the usual market traders, organised by Northumberland County Council and Market Manager Neil Brown.

Shoppers will also be entertained by a choir from Northumberland Creative and Performing Arts and street buskers. The event will run in the Market Place on Saturday.
