FORMER Newcastle and Manchester United striker Andrew Cole is set to join Nottingham Forest on a one year deal.
Cole played for United's deadly rivals Sunderland last season but only managed seven appearances for the Black Cats without finding the target.

He spent the latter stages of the 2007-08 campaign on loan at Burnley, where he scored six goals in 13 appearances.

He was released by Sunderland at the end of the season.

The striker is expected to join the Championship side next week on a free transfer.

Cole rose to fame for the Magpies under the guidance of Kevin Keegan from 1993 to 1995 when he scored 55 goals in 70 games for the black and whites.

But in somewhat controversial circumstances Keegan sold the Premier League's leading goalscorer at the time to the Toon's deadly rivals Manchester United.

He went on to win Premier League titles, the FA Cup and European Champions League with the Red Devils.

The 36-year-old is the fourth player added to the Forest squad in the close season.

Manager Colin Calderwood has also signed Robert Earnshaw for £2.65m, midfielder Paul Anderson, on loan from Liverpool, and Frenchman Guy Moussi.
