Hepscott WI celebrated its seventh birthday in April with cake, candles and wine.
We were joined by WI Adviser Brenda Houlison, who presided over the AGM. She also gave an update on WI events, local and national.
The present committee agreed to stand for another year and after a secret ballot Linda Wadge was elected President for 2014/15.
Our visitor kindly judged the competition for the best paste eggs.
They were certainly worthy of praise – using natural products, e.g. flowers, leaves and vegetable skins, is not as easy as it sounds admitted one member, whose attempts had only resulted in green slime. The winner was Elaine Walker, who produced a delightful basket of delicately tinted eggs. Her secret for shiny paste eggs, rub them with butter when finished. Elaine was presented with a chocolate egg by President Linda Wadge.
The guest speaker at the May meeting will be Lloyd Langley, who will talk about Wallington, one of the many jewels of our historic county. Visitors are very welcome. The meeting will be at Hepscott Village Hall on Tuesday, May 20, at 7.30pm.
