KIRKLEY WI held a lunch party on Wednesday, October 2, to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The meal at Kirkley Hall was a 1960s menu.

The cake was cut by Eleanor Findley. It was then enjoyed by all those present, including Jean and Liz who made and decorated the cake.

Over the next year, the Secretary Dorothy Wheeler has arranged an exciting programme of meetings and outings. These include a talk about Gertrude Bell, a talk by Vera Selby, a games evening and a Northumbrian evening.

The committee thanked Dorothy for her hard work.

The November meeting is the AGM, with a 1960s quiz, and the December meeting is the Christmas lunch.
