A chorus of approval
The Northumberland Wildlife Trust threw open the doors of its Hauxley Nature Reserve to bird lovers to celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day.
It is a celebration of the world's oldest wake up call - the dawn chorus - and the beauty of bird song.
The annual event is now truly an international one and is celebrated as far away as Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand and closer to home across Europe.
More than 25 wildlife enthusiasts and early birds joined Geoff Sample, Morpeth based internationally renowned bird song expert and Mike Pratt, Northumberland Wildlife Trust's Chief Executive at Hauxley Nature Reserve at 5.30am for a special celebration of the dawn chorus.
The event, which lasted more than three hours, included a guided walk around the site with Geoff identifying the bird song along the way.
