THE need for aid in the wake of the Morpeth floods is as great as ever.
That's the message which has been spelled out by the town's Lions Club which is helping to spearhead relief efforts.
The Flood Disaster Appeal it set up in the wake of the deluge on September 6 last year has now topped £180,000.
But Club President Graham Tait has urged people to continue with fundraising efforts to keep the cash rolling in.
Contributions the the Appeal can be made at the Morpeth Natwest Bank. The Sort code is 541045 and the account number is 17540321.
As flood victims gradually return to their homes, the demand is increasing on the furniturte depot which is being run by Morpeth Lions and Rotary Clubs at the Pegswood Industrial Estate.
Anyone who can volunteer to help at the depot should contact Rhona Dunn on 07977320681. The telephone number of the depot itself is 01670 518884. It is open Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Noon until 3pm.
Mr Tait said: "It is important that we emphasise to affected families that help and support is still available through various channels and agencies in the town.
"I would like to thank everyone who has helped in any way to ease the pain and suffering of the residents of Morpeth who have been affected by flooding and we look forward to a better 2009."
