A CASTLE Morpeth tourist attraction has launched a new project which urges motorists to get together to tackle rising fuel costs.
The Meldon 'Park and Share' pilot scheme at Meldon Park allows people to put their name and contact information on a blackboard and also details of the destinations and times they will depart from the Park and return to it during the week.

Those looking at the board will then be able to get in touch with others and potentially organise a regular car sharing system so costs can be shared and petrol saved.

Meldon Park estate owner James Cookson said: "This pilot scheme will only work if the community spirit is willing, I think it is and we certainly have good reason.

"Once it is up and running I hope that both locals and visitors alike make use of it."

The blackboard is located in a shed in the car park. The Kitchen Garden Shop can be contacted on 01670 772512 for advice or information, but it must be noted that at busy periods customers come first.
