AN accident on the Morpeth bypass between a car and camper van caused major traffic delays on Wednesday.
The collision between a Volkswagen Polo and caravette vehicle happened about 2.30pm just before the turn off to the cattle bridge, North of the River Wansbeck, on the A1 southbound.
The car left the road and went up an embankment and one lane of the dual carriageway road was closed with ambulance and fire crews at the scene.
The female driver and a passenger in the car were taken to Wansbeck General Hospital with a back injury and wrist injury, but neither are believed to be serious.
