As clearing up operations continued in the wake of Morpeth's worst floods for a century, residents began counting the personal and financial cost of the crisis.
Fortunately there was no loss of life, but there was tragedy for some who returned home to find their homes ruined and in at least one case, a beloved pet drowned by the deluge.

Many people were able to rescue their pets and carry them to safety and there was praise for the RSPCA team which worked throughouut the crisis to see that as many animals as possible were saved.

More video from Morpeth this morning, Sunday.
