SLEEPY heads from Morpeth Boys' Brigade bedded down in support of the Save the Children charity.
A total of 17 boys aged between six and 12 took part in the worldwide Giant Sleepover, which involved staying overnight at headquarters in Manchester Street together with leaders and hardy parents.

This was a record Morpeth number for the event and nearly £100 was raised for Save the Children.

The group was also part of the international effort to set a new Guinness World Record for the biggest simultaneous sleepover ever held.

A variety of fun and games — including keeper of the keys, hide-and-seek, a sleep bag race and a giant hike around Morpeth — were among the activities served up throughout the evening and night and there was plenty of food to keep their energy levels up.

And the children were rewarded with a special goody bag full of treats and fun things to do.

Clive Kemp, Junior Company Leader, said: "It's fantastic that a record number of boys turned out for the sleepover to support such a worthy cause.

"I would like to thank all those who participated and helped out and here's to next year when we'll be aiming to once again break the record."

This was part of the Morpeth Boys' Brigade grand finale for an exciting year. Enrolment starts again in September, especially for Anchors (6-8 year olds) and Junior section boys (9-11 year olds).

Those interested in joining should contact Clive Kemp on 01670 519322 or Kevin Purdy on 01670 531540. For more information, visit www.boysbrigade-morpeth.org.
