Morpeth students reap rewards

YEAR 11 students at Morpeth's High School were praised for their excellent work at Rewards Evenings.
During the two nights at King Edward VI School, the students received awards for attendance, progress, services to the school and County colours for sport.

As for special awards, Eleanor Brunt (violin) and Jimmy Ingram (trombone) received the Jane Mann Award for the Arts for their outstanding contribution to music and Jimmy performed 'Dances with Bears' on both nights.

Laura Holmes was given the Jonathan Philpott Award for outstanding contribution to drama and performed a fantastic solo on both evenings.
The Citizenship Award went to Oliver Barnes for all his work with Student Voice and Services to the School awards were presented to Alex Wooley, Chris Brown and Danny Flounders for their tireless work as technicians for school productions.

Claire Savage, Year Leader for Year 11, said to the students: "This year group is set to get the best GCSE grades the school has ever seen, but in addition to this you have achieved so much over the past three years and I am so proud of you all.

"It has been a privilege to share your hopes, dreams and plans for the future."

The awards were presented by a Guest Speaker on each night. They were poet Crispin Thomas and Metro Radio presenter Mark Thorburn.
