LAPTOPS, shopping vouchers and money-saving tips are up for grabs in a series of Internet training sessions.
Residents across Castle Morpeth can take advantage of the week-long programme, which aims to get more families on the information super-highway.

The initiative, which is being offered as part of the national Get Online Day, will help novices learn how to send e-mails, perform web searches and find out how the Internet can save them money, time and hassle.

Anyone who registers with their local online centre will be entered into a draw for one of three £100 vouchers and those brave enough to try an online challenge could win a laptop with a year's free broadband.

Castle Morpeth Project Co-ordinator Jo Crumplin said: "Get Online Day is a great opportunity for Internet beginners and those wanting to improve their skills and staff at our centres are really excited about helping local people complete their online firsts.

"Everyone is aware of the increasing cost of living so we would like to show people how to safely shop online, saving time and money by getting their shopping delivered.

"We can also show residents how to get the best deals by using online price comparison websites."

Activities are being organised by Castle Morpeth Online in partnership with UK Online.

The event kicks off on Tuesday at Coquet Children's Centre in Bondicar Road, Hadston, running from 1pm to 4pm. A creche is available, but places must be booked on 01670 761496.

On Wednesday, sessions will be held at ATAC in Widdrington Station, Castle Morpeth Disability Association in Stobhill and Hadston House Youth and Community Building. All will run from 9am to 12.30pm.

On Thursday activities will move to Pegswood Community Project, from 10am to 1pm, and on Friday there will be a session at Stamfordham Village Hall from 10am to Noon, and at Lynemouth Resource Centre, from 1pm to 4pm.

Northumberland Business Services in Newgate Street, Morpeth, will host the event on Monday, October 27, from 1pm to 4pm.

And on Friday, October 31 there will be a session at St Mary's Church in Stannington, from 1pm to 4pm.
