A MORPETH student is hoping an exhibition of her work will put her in the frame for a successful career.
Stephanie Rochester, who lives in Kirkhill, has almost completed a three-year photography degree at Newcastle College.

And to help raise her profile she is holding a solo exhibition between May 14 and 19 (from 10am to 4pm each day), with a theme of fashion and the 'femme fatale' icon of cinema in the 1940s, at 14 Blandford Square in Newcastle.

The 22-year-old said: "The idea of it is to put all my work out there so people can see what I have been doing this year.

"I enjoy doing fashion related photographs and particularly portrait shoots as it's what I'm best at and I hope to get noticed by high fashion magazines in which these types of pictures are often used."

Stephanie attended King Edward VI School before going on to Newcastle College to do a one-year arts foundation course, where she was able to try a few different subjects including textiles and fashion. But once she did the photography section, it was clear what she wanted to pursue.

"I have always taken photographs since I was little, but once I got to take pictures with good equipment on the foundation course, I quickly decided that I wanted to continue it for the next three years," she said.

So she did a two-year foundation degree in photography and then progressed to an extra one-year creative practice award in the subject, which she will soon finish.

Miss Rochester has received help from the Tyne Tees Model Agency with her work for the last two years and people from it will be at a preview night for the exhibition on Monday, May 12 between 6pm and 8pm where they can speak to anyone interested in doing some modelling.

As well as this event, her confectionary themed photograph 'Hundreds and Thousands' has reached the final of a national student competition run by the AOP Gallery in London.

The winner and two runners-up will be announced on May 20, with all the finalists' pictures on display in the gallery between then and May 31.
