THE traditional Easter egg run by bikers in Northumberland will return this spring.
Members of the South East Northumberland Motorcycle Action Group are planning to ride through the county, collecting chocolate eggs and money for good causes.
The route will begin at Woodhorn, taking in Ellington, Widdrington, Amble, Alnwick, Morpeth and Bedlington, before finishing in Blyth.
And members hope a Retriever motorbike, which is capable of picking up a van, will provide an added attraction.
Last year dozens of bikers took part in the event, collecting more than 1,000 eggs, which were delivered to Northumberland children’s homes and children’s wards in local hospitals. In addition more than £300 was raised for Help for Heroes and £400 was given to Wansbeck Hospital’s children’s ward.
This year’s event, which will take place on Easter Saturday, April 23, will see the eggs delivered to the same facilities, while any cash raised will go to the Great North Air Ambulance, RNLI and Princess Ellie’s Trust to support meningitis research.
Full details of stop-off points are yet to be announced.
