AN advice day for the county’s carers will take place in Stannington tomorrow.
The session will be run by support group Carers Northumberland, which assists those who are providing unpaid care to sick, ill or disabled relatives, friends or neighbours.
The event will form part of Carers’ Rights Day, which aims to provide carers with the information and advice they need. This year the theme is Getting Help In Tough Times.
The Stannington session will focus on financial support, as well as making the most of technology.
Wansbeck MP Ian Lavery will open the event and guest speakers are Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Adult Services Carers and Partnerships Manager Michele O’ Brien, who will talk about Carers’ Assessments and getting a helping hand, and Meg Kirby from the charity Legacare, who will offer advice on financial planning and Wills.
There will also be workshops.
The event takes place at Stannington Village Hall, from 10am to 3pm.
Anyone living in Northumberland who is carer is welcome to attend.
