Agencies still offering help for flood victims

SUPPORT is still at hand for Morpeth flood victims.

A total of 48 homes and businesses were affected by flooding on Tuesday, September 25, and many are still trying to cope with the damage.

Northumberland County Council set up a flood recovery group, including Northumbria Police, the Environment Agency, Morpeth Flood Action Group, Morpeth Town Council, the British Red Cross and Morpeth Lions, which has met regularly since the deluge to ensure adequate help is being provided.

And the work continues to go on.

Anyone who has sandbags to be collected, bulky goods to dispose of, or who has queries about council tax payments for flooded property should contact the council on 0845 600 6400. Advice can also be offered to businesses suffering flood damage.

People can also find help with queries at Morpeth Town Hall on 01670 514314, CAB Morpeth on 01670 518814 and Age UK Northumberland on 0845 140 0088.

Morpeth Churches Together is organising a pamper day for flood victims next Thursday.
