A competition-winning painting has been put up for sale to raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service, Mayor of Morpeth Alison Byard’s chosen charity.

Morpeth Boys’ Brigade leader Clive Kemp’s piece depicts the Northumberland Regiment, the 5th Regiment of foot, during the Peninsular War in 1813 to tie in with this year’s Morpeth Gathering theme, War and Peace.

It won first prize in the event’s art competition.

He said: “I was astonished and delighted to win as it was the first time I had entered an art contest.

Hopefully, I can boost the Mayor’s fund-raising by selling the painting (it is available for £400 – email clive.kemp@hotmail.co.uk)”
